VOICES OF AOTEAROA

OUR STORY

You know how the story goes - we flew the nest and followed our dreams, working hard to get by and get known in an incredibly challenging industry. We made it here - that was the first hurdle. Then we studied hard, battled endless failures to push through and based ourselves in the capital of culture - London, singing in some of the most prestigious opera houses of the world.

But now, this dream has been obliterated. And we couldn't be further from home. We miss it. So we've all found each other. Many birds whose voices have been silenced through no fault of our own.  We have found our whānau. And together, we'll get through this!

WATCH

POKAREKARE ANA - A PREVIEW

In singing this song, we acknowledge the Kaitito Waiata (composer) Paraire Tomoana and the Ngāti Kahungunu iwi (tribe) for this taonga (gift) which has now become a beloved unofficial anthem of all New Zealanders home and abroad.

FAR FROM HOME

YOU CAN HELP US

We want to feel connected to home. Many of us can't get back, many of us are facing complete career changes. All of us have lost an unrecoverable amount of our income. We are all looking at New Zealand with love and pain in equal measure.

By donating to view our recital, you'll be helping us all to survive this challenging time. Share our page, share our love, share our plight with everyone. Let the Voices of Aotearoa and our Whānau serenade you with our favourite songs from home while we find solace in each other and our music.
